Liberty Square Arch
📍 Taiwan
The Liberty Square Arch is located in the East Gate district of Chinatown, in the heart of the Tamshui Old Street district. It is a three-story arch that was originally built in 1728, during the Qing dynasty, as part of a waterfront barrier wall. Through the arch runs the Tamshui River. Today it is surrounded by a beautiful garden. It serves as a gateway between the old and new districts of Tamshui, and it reflects Chinese culture and the spirit of the people of Tamshui. There are many historical sites to visit nearby, including the Tamshui Old Street area, the original site of the East Gate barrier wall, and the historic Tamshui Scenic Area. Visitors can also go to the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall and the Cihu Mausoleum. A trip to the Liberty Square Arch is perfect for photography and sightseeing.
