📍 From Bridge, Hungary
Liberty Bridge is a bridge in Budapest, Hungary and is a must-see for travelers to the city. It spans the River Danube and connects Buda and Pest, the two sides of the city. The bridge was built in 1896 and was designed by French engineer, Ernest Gouin. It is one of the most recognized symbols of Budapest and is an important source of pride to the citizens. It has a complex network of bridges that make it possible to cross from one side of the river to the other in several ways. From the bridge you can admire grandiose views of the city, including the Parliament building on the Pest side and Gellert Hill on the Buda side. At night, the underground lights up and make for a beautiful illuminated scene. There are also two small pavilions in the middle of the bridge that annually host the Szechenyi Istvan Cultural Festival.
