The Leone di San Marco is the winged-lion statue crowning a column in Piazza Maggiore, the main square of Feltre’s historic upper town. Saint Mark’s lion was the emblem of the Republic of Venice, and the monument recalls Feltre’s long connection with Venetian rule. A second column bears Saint Victor, one of the town’s patron saints, placing civic allegiance and local devotion side by side. The two tall columns give the square a recognizable vertical rhythm, with the church of San Rocco and surrounding historic façades providing their architectural setting.
