The Leonard P. Zakim Bunker Hill Memorial Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge that spans the Charles River and connects the neighborhoods of Charlestown and Boston. It is an area of historical significance, and the bridge is one of Boston’s most famous landmarks, as well as being one of the widest Cable-Stayed bridges in the world. Named after civil rights leader Leonard P. Zakim, the bridge is used for both automobile and pedestrian traffic. It boasts a unique and eye-catching design, with four inclined diamond-shaped towers constructed from cables. The bridge is also illuminated with lights after dark providing a spectacular backdrop to the city skyline as you drive, walk, or cycle across. One of the best views of the bridge can be found from the Charles River Esplanade Park, where you can capture its beauty from sunrise to sunset.
