📍 From Galleries, United States
The Legion of Honor and Galleries is a must-see when visiting San Francisco. It is a spectacular Beaux-Arts style museum, designed in 1917 to honor those who served in World War I. The galleries include a wealth of works from the Renaissance to the present day, from Rubens and Rembrandt to Picasso and Warhol. There is also an emphasis on art from California and the western United States. Temporary exhibitions highlight works by both historical and contemporary artists. From its grand central courtyard, sweeping stairways and elaborate murals, the Legion of Honor is a unique location for art lovers of all ages. Admission is free with a San Francisco Library card.
