Leeds Town Hall
📍 United Kingdom
Leeds Town Hall stands on the Headrow beside Victoria Square, a monumental expression of the city’s nineteenth-century industrial wealth and civic ambition. Designed by Cuthbert Brodrick and opened by Queen Victoria in 1858, it brought council chambers, law courts and a grand public hall into one building. Its columned classical façade is crowned by a tall clock tower with a domed roof, giving the city centre one of its most recognizable silhouettes. Broad entrance steps and four stone lions create a strong foreground, while views from across Victoria Square reveal the scale and symmetry of the frontage. Closer views emphasize the carved stonework and the contrast between the deeply shadowed portico and the tower rising above it.
