📍 France
The Plomarc’h fishermen’s village is a preserved coastal hamlet on the eastern side of Douarnenez, overlooking the Bay of Douarnenez within the wider Plomarc’h natural site. Its modest stone cottages and narrow lanes evoke the generations of fishing families whose lives were tied to the town’s ports and sardine trade. Nearby remains of Gallo-Roman fish-salting installations reveal that seafood processing on this coast predates the modern fishing industry by many centuries. Granite walls, whitewashed façades, old chimneys and glimpses of blue water give the village its distinctive visual rhythm, while footpaths connect the clustered houses with cliffs, fields and shoreline.
