📍 From Kennedybrücke, Germany
Langer Eugen and the Post Tower define Bonn’s modern skyline in the Bundesviertel, the former government district beside the Rhine. Completed in 1969, Langer Eugen was designed by Egon Eiermann as offices for members of the Bundestag and was nicknamed after parliamentary president Eugen Gerstenmaier; it now forms part of the UN Campus. Nearby, Helmut Jahn’s glass-clad Post Tower, completed in 2002 as the headquarters of Deutsche Post DHL, represents Bonn’s later role as an international and corporate center. From the Rhine meadows and the opposite bank, the slim concrete grid of Langer Eugen contrasts sharply with the Post Tower’s curved blue façade, which shifts with the sky and evening light.
