Commissioned by the Venetian Republic in the 16th century, the Land Gate is one of Zadar’s most iconic monuments. Designed by architect Michele Sanmicheli, it once served as the primary entry to the fortified city. Embellished with Venetian symbols, including the Lion of St. Mark, the gate’s Renaissance style reflects Zadar’s storied past. Today, it offers a scenic photo spot by the Foša harbor and a pleasant starting point for exploring the Old Town. Nearby attractions like the Roman Forum and Sea Organ allow visitors to immerse themselves in the city’s rich cultural tapestry.
