📍 Kenya
Lamu Fort, located at the northeastern corner of Lamu Town in Kenya, was built between 1813 and 1821 by Sultan Fumo Madi ibn Abu Bakr. The fort is a prime example of Swahili architecture with coral stone walls and intricately carved wooden doors. Photographers will find the fort’s imposing, well-preserved structure and its scenic tower ideal for capturing panoramic views of Lamu Town and the Indian Ocean. The interior courtyard, often home to local cultural and art exhibitions, provides rich, colorful photo opportunities. Morning and late-afternoon sun offers the best lighting conditions for architectural details and shadow play. Additionally, visit the nearby Lamu Museum to discover more about the town's rich history and enhance your storytelling through images.
