Lama Monachile and Ponte Borbonico su Lama Monachile in Polignano a Mare, Italy, are two remarkable landmarks with rich history. At the heart of the Lama, where it meets the southernmost tip of the Adriatic sea, lies this ancient fortified bridge lined with arches and towers. Built in 1503 by the Spanish, it was a crucial part of the defence system for the area. A walk along the bridge offers a great view of the surrounding areas, as well as a unique insight into the past. On the other side of the bridge, the Monachile beach provides the perfect backdrop for a day at the beach. It is beach with plenty of water sports, such as kayaking and paddle boarding, and is a great place to relax. With its crystal clear turquoise waters and rocky coastline, it is also a popular destination for snorkeling and diving.
