Lakhta Center rises 462 metres above the Gulf of Finland in Saint Petersburg’s northwestern Lakhta district, far from the city’s predominantly low-rise historic core. Completed in 2018 as the headquarters of Gazprom, it is the tallest building in Europe and a defining feature of the modern waterfront skyline. The tower’s five-lobed form narrows and twists toward a sharp spire, giving its glass façade a changing profile from different angles. Its reflective surface shifts with the pale northern sky, while distant views across the water or from Primorsky District emphasize the building’s exceptional scale and its striking contrast with Saint Petersburg’s traditional domes and horizontal cityscape.
