
Lake Nakuru is a beautiful lake located in Nakuru, Kenya, within the sprawling plains of the Great Rift Valley. It is home to a great variety of animals and birds, in particular a large number of the near threatened Greater and Lesser Flamingos. It is also the home of many other water birds such as pelicans, cormorants, kingfishers, egrets, ducks and storks. Rhino, hippo, and other grazers such as buffalo, zebra, eland, and giraffe can also be found on the lake’s shore. In the forested areas nearby, there are small mammals such as bushbucks, baboons and warthogs. Visitors can explore the lake by boat or on foot and can witness the incredible spectacle of the vibrant pink flamingos in motion. Lake Nakuru is popular with bird watchers and bird photographers, as well as all kinds of nature-lovers and photographers.
