Lake Hillier is an attractive pink lake located on the western coast of Middle Island in Australia. It is surrounded by dense woodland and sand dunes, and looks particularly stunning in the morning with its deep pink water. The lake measures about 600 meters in length and is separated from the sea by a narrow strip of sand. The lake's pink color is believed to be caused by bacteria, a combination of salt-loving algae and other organisms, which contain carotenoid pigments. The island is also home to a variety of wildlife including koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and echidnas. Despite its unique appearance, the lake is safe for swimming, although it does not contain any fresh water.
