Lake Eola is a popular recreational spot in downtown Orlando, situated right in the center of the heart of the city. The lake was originally created in 1883, and was named after a local muscian and Confederate soldier named Eola. The lake is known as a great place to spend an evening for a leisurely stroll around the iconic swan boat rides in the park. The lake also boasts an impressive fountain with multicolored light displays, and is a popular site for weddings. A variety of activities such as yoga, pilates, movie nights, and live music events are offered seasonally around the lake. There is also a beloved farmers market every Sunday, where shoppers can purchase fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as handmade crafts and artwork. Parking can be found in the garages around the lake, as well as metered locations.
