Lake Benson is a 137-acre lake located in Garner, North Carolina, near the intersection of Benson Road and Lake Wheeler Road. Named after John M. Benson, a 19th-century local landowner, the lake is now a popular fishing spot and park. It is surrounded by wooded areas and is also home to a variety of wildlife, including ducks, turtles, bass, and catfish. One of its best outdoor features is the four-mile loop of paved trails, which winds its way around and through the lake, providing a peaceful stroll for walkers, hikers, and cyclists alike. Other amenities include two boat ramps, a fishing pier, a picnic shelter, and a playground. Fishing is allowed year-round; fees are paid at the park entrance. From kayaking to walking, picnicking, or simply enjoying the view, there's something for everyone at Lake Benson.
