Laguna Torre is a beautiful turquoise lake located in El Chaltén, a small Patagonian town in Argentina. Within the Los Glaciares National Park, it is framed by tall mountain peaks in the Southern Patagonian Ice Field. The hike to the Lake is classified as medium-high, but that doesn't make it any less popular.
You begin your hike in the remote village of El Chaltén, walking around the edge of the Fitz Roy River and past the Laguna Capri. The trail then leads through lenga forests, creeks and rivers, until you finally come upon Laguna Torre. At the lake, you will have stunning views of glaciers, snow-covered peaks, and endless meadows between hills. Laguna Torre is a perfect spot for photography lovers, and you should take your time to take the most of it, including stopping for a quick lunch. After the lake, you can keep going the trail downhill, surrounded by a wonderful landscape. Eventually you will come up on a mountain range, with great views of Cerro Torre, standing tall above the forest. Here you can rest before completing your return to El Chaltén. The hike should take between 7 and 8 hours.
