Laguna Epecuen is located in the Argentine town of Villa Epecuén, about downhill from the town of Carhue. The area was once home to a thriving resort town that was renowned for its stunning views of the salt-water lagoon. Then in 1985, the lagoon burst its banks, flooding the town with a devastating 25 meters of water and creating a unique, eerie landscape that has earned the area the moniker "the lost city". Nowadays, visitors to the area can enjoy the surreal beauty of the rusty ruins that were once the village and soak up the rustic atmosphere of its country roads.
