Lago Spèccheri is an artificial reservoir on the Leno di Vallarsa, near the hamlet of Speccheri southeast of Rovereto in southern Trentino. Held within a steep, densely wooded valley, the lake is defined by the striking contrast between its calm green water, rugged slopes and the massive concrete wall of the Speccheri dam. The narrow basin creates strong reflections when the surface is still, while changing reservoir levels expose bands of pale rock along the shore. Views that include both the dam and surrounding forest best convey the scale of the hydroelectric landscape and its close fit within Vallarsa’s mountain terrain.
