Lago Mascardi is located in Patagonia in Argentina, within the Canton of Bariloche. It was formed by glacial outwash after the Mascardi Glacier melted, a considerable source of the river Limay. It is the biggest lake of the Limay Basin, which contains several other lakes of glacial origin. It is surrounded by majestic forests of trees such as Lengas, Coihues, and Ñires, as well as Mounts Catedral, Lopez and Capilla. Here, one can enjoy kayaking, fly-fishing, camping and trekking. You can observe local species of birds such as the Chucao, the Magellanic woodpecker or the Crested duck. Various options for accommodation abound, so Lago Mascardi is a great place to enjoy nature in Patagonia.
