Lago di Dobbiaco, or Toblacher See in German, lies just south of Dobbiaco in bilingual South Tyrol, where the upper Puster Valley opens toward the Dolomites. The River Rienza flows through this shallow alpine lake, whose reed beds and marshy edges support waterbirds and provide an important stop during seasonal migrations. Forested slopes and pale limestone peaks frame the water, creating layered reflections when the surface is calm; low morning or evening light brings out the contrast between dark conifers, bright rock and green-blue water. A walking path circles the lake, offering changing views from open shoreline, woodland and wetland sections.
