📍 From Piazza XI Febbraio, Italy
At Dervio, Lake Como’s eastern shore opens around a peninsula formed by deposits from the Varrone stream, beneath the slopes of Monte Legnone. The lake’s glacial origins are visible in the contrast between its long sweep of water and the steep mountain walls enclosing it. Dervio’s sailing and windsurfing activity adds bright sails to this landscape, giving shoreline photographs a sense of scale and local life rather than an empty panorama. Just north of the town centre, Corenno Plinio, a historic hamlet within Dervio, offers a different lakeside scene: stone stairways, closely grouped buildings and a medieval castle above the water. Together, these views show both the recreational shoreline and the older settlement pattern of upper Lake Como.
