La Giralda is a spectacular tower located in the heart of Sevilla, Spain. Built in the 13th century, this remarkable landmark is the former minaret of the Great Mosque of Sevilla. It is a fine example of the Almohad architecture that blends beautifully with Renaissance influences. Its bell tower stands tall, majestically overseeing the skyline of the city. Its elegant spire features four sections; the first three of which are elaborately adorned with Moorish ornamentation, depicting intricate geometric patterns. The top of the tower is made of golden orbs reflective of the yellow sunlight that floods the city. From the top, one can get an impressive view of the entire city, including the nearby landmarks such as the Almohad walls, Alcazar of Sevilla, and the Cathedral of Sevilla. Furthermore, the outdoor terraces of La Giralda are used for leisure time, with live performances and art exhibitions held throughout the year. No visit to Sevilla is complete without admiring the breathtaking beauty of La Gireda.
