L'Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile is a large archway in the middle of Paris, commissioned in 1806 and dedicated to those who fought and died for France in the French Revolutionary War and Napoleonic Wars. The arch is decorated with sculptures and inscriptions of names of generals and wars fought. Located at the center of Place Charles de Gaulle, a twelve-lane roundabout, the arch is an impressive 50 meters high, and visitors can climb the 284 steps inside the arch or take an elevator to the top for a magnificent view of the city. At night, the monument is illuminated with powerful lights, making it a great destination for travelers and photographers.
