The iconic L'Arc de Triomphe de l'Etoile is a monumental arch built in honor of those who fought for France during the Napoleonic wars. It stands 50 meters tall and is located in the center of the Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve roads intersect. The Arc also contains the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in memory of those who died in WWI. This incredible structure can be seen from across Paris and remains a powerful symbol of French patriotism. Visitors can ascend the 284 steps to the top of the Arc and take in the stunning views of Paris below. For an even more special experience, the Arc is illuminated by multicolored lights every Saturday night. A visit to this iconic destination is a must for any traveler to Paris.
