Kyōko-chi Pond
📍 Japan
Kyōko-chi Pond (京湖池) in Kyoto, Japan is a shallow body of water with three islands. It's surrounded by cherry blossom trees, as well as other picturesque vegetation. Its main vegetation consists of Japanese irises, water-lilies, and cattails. You can also spot wild birds such as egrets, green pheasants, ducks, and herons in their natural environment. Several wooden bridges cross the pond and create a unique scenery. It’s also connected to a nearby pond through a waterfall. A thick fog hangs over the pond in the morning, creating a mysterious atmosphere. In summer, swarms of fire-flies light up the area, and in winter, koi carp can be seen underneath cracking ice. Kyōko-chi Pond is a great place for relaxation and appreciation of nature.
