📍 Iran
The Dena Mountains are a high limestone massif in the Zagros range, rising above Khafr, a village at their northern foot in Isfahan Province. Numerous summits exceed 4,000 metres, including Qash-Mastan, the highest peak in Dena. Khafr serves as a starting point for mountaineering routes into this rugged landscape, where steep valleys lead toward broken ridgelines and snow-covered upper slopes. From around the village, orchards and cultivated ground provide a striking foreground to the mountain wall, connecting the scene to local rural life rather than wilderness alone. Pale rock, dark gullies and seasonal snow define the massif’s textures, while the serrated skyline conveys its scale.
