Kuta is a dense coastal resort in Badung Regency on Bali’s southwestern shore, between Tuban and Legian and close to Ngurah Rai International Airport. Once associated with a small seaside settlement, it became one of the island’s earliest centers of mass tourism and surfing. Its defining view is Kuta Beach: a broad sweep of sand facing the Indian Ocean, where breaking waves, evening crowds, and westward sunsets create layered silhouettes and reflections on wet sand. Inland, busy lanes contrast with the open shoreline; on Jalan Legian, the Bali Bombing Memorial commemorates those killed in the 2002 attacks and adds a solemn historical dimension to the district.
