Kurfürstliches Palais und Palastgarden, located in Trier, Germany, is a palace overlooking the Moselle river. It was built in the middle of the 17th century for Archbishop-Elector Lothar Franz von Schönborn, who wanted a grand palace to match the atmosphere of the city. The architecture is a mix of baroque and rococo styles, and is a reminder of the city’s history as a hub of art and music. Inside, visitors can see the Archbishop’s personal collection of musical instruments, marquetry, and paintings. The palace also contains a library with ancient manuscripts and volumes of the works of Goethe. Outside the palace, there is a large baroque garden with terraces, ponds, and a grand fountain. The grounds are open to the public and provide a peaceful respite from the city.
