Kuang Si Waterfall lies in the forested hills south of Luang Prabang in northern Laos. A tall main cascade feeds a succession of turquoise pools and smaller falls, with pale limestone shelves forming natural terraces through the woodland. The water’s distinctive blue-green appearance is associated with the limestone-rich landscape, giving the pools a striking contrast against dark foliage and exposed tree roots. The main fall offers a sense of height and scale, while the lower cascades reveal the stepped rock formations and overlapping pools that make Kuang Si recognizable. Near the entrance, the Tat Kuang Si Bear Rescue Centre cares for rescued Asiatic black bears, adding a wildlife-conservation dimension to this well-known excursion from Luang Prabang.
