Kościół św. Antoniego Padewskiego, the Church of St. Anthony of Padua, is a Franciscan church on Przemysł Hill in Poznań’s Old Town, near the Royal Castle and a short walk from the Old Market Square. Built in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, it is a distinctive example of the city’s Baroque religious architecture. Inside, painted vaults, elaborate stucco and gilded altars create layers of colour and ornament, with the central aisle drawing the eye toward the richly decorated sanctuary. The church also houses the venerated image of Our Lady of Poznań, giving it significance as a Marian shrine as well as an architectural landmark. Its hillside setting places it within the historic streets rising above the market square.
