The Kongresshalle (Berlin Congress hall) is a remarkable historical landmark in Berlin, Germany. Located in the Tiergarten, it was built between 1957 and 1958 by East German architect and urban planner, Hans Scharoun, to commemorate East German society's achievements. Modelled after classical Greek temples, it is now Germans' second largest performing arts centre, with a seating capacity of up to 6000. It is home to the bi-annual Berlin Film Festival and a regular host of international conferences, festivals and exhibitions. It is a landmark untapped by mainstream tourism and one that remains largely little known, despite it being a site of immense cultural, artistic and historical significance.
