Kolegium Jezuickie is the former Jesuit college beside Poznań’s Baroque parish church, known as the Fara, just south of the Old Market Square. Founded in the 16th century, the college was an important center of education; its surviving Baroque buildings date mainly from the 18th century and now house municipal offices. Napoleon stayed here in 1806, adding another historical layer to the former religious institution. Warm pink façades, pale architectural trim and regular rows of windows give the complex a more restrained character than the richly ornamented church next door. The courtyard reveals the scale and symmetry of the college, while nearby lanes connect it to the tightly woven streetscape of the Old Town.
