The Köhlbrandbrücke is a bridge in Hamburg, Germany and is an important transport link in the city. Built in 1973, the structure spans nearly 1,400 metres and takes 2,500 vehicles an hour across the river. It is a main artery between the east and west sides of the city and provides stunning views of the harbour. The best way to enjoy the Köhlbrandbrücke is by walking or cycling across the top, taking in the stunning vista, the lapping waters and the ever-changing skyline. On the bridge you can get incredibly close to the aeroplanes taking off and landing at Hamburg Airport, while the cars and lorries rush beneath your feet. When the sunsets, the bridge is lit up and it's a great place to take a stroll to enjoy the views. With plenty of look out spots, it's also a good destination for keen photographers.
