Kofuku-ji Gojunoto, a five-story pagoda located in Nara, Japan, is a stunning sight to behold. Standing almost 50 meters tall, the gojunoto serves as the second tallest pagoda in Japan and is the symbol of the Kofuku-ji Temple, one of the seven great temples of Nara. Built in 1426, the pagoda is a stunning example of architecture from the Muromachi period and is constructed from wood and painted in bright red. The details of the pagoda are enriched with elaborate carved decorations as well as paintings of creatures from Buddhist mythology. Visitors to Kofuku-ji will feel transported back in time as they take in the pagoda's majesty and stroll the grounds of the temple it stands in. From the pagoda, visitors can enjoy the other structures of the Kofuku-ji complex, taking in the elegant Ganjyou gate and captivating Sarusawa pond. A memorable day trip for visitors to Japan.
