Kofu Castle is the feudal-era castle site at the heart of Kofu, Yamanashi, where wide stone ramparts and a surrounding moat mark the footprint of the former stronghold. The remaining stone walls are the visual anchor: massive, weathered blocks that reveal construction technique and catch low light to emphasize texture and scale. Set within an urban park, the ruins frame views across the Kofu Basin toward the encircling hills, giving a sense of the strategic location of the castle. In spring the park is planted with cherry trees that often bloom along the moat, creating reflections and a seasonal color contrast with the gray masonry; pathways and open lawns make the site accessible for study of composition and layering in landscape shots.
