The Magdalena Abakanowicz Pedestrian and Cycle Bridge crosses the Vistula between Warsaw’s Powiśle district, near Karowa Street, and the Praga side at Okrzei Street. Opened in 2024, it creates a direct car-free link between the city center and historic Praga while also serving as a linear viewpoint over the river. The slender, gently curving deck widens at several points, producing balconies where the Vistula, its green banks, nearby bridges, and Warsaw’s contrasting skyline can be framed without road traffic in the foreground. Integrated lighting emphasizes the bridge’s low profile after dark. Its patron, Magdalena Abakanowicz, was one of Poland’s most internationally recognized sculptors, known for monumental, tactile forms and powerful groups of human figures.
