Kirkha Svyatogo Adalberta is the former Lutheran church of St. Adalbert in central Zelenogradsk, the Baltic resort once known as Cranz in East Prussia. Completed in the late 19th century, its red-brick Neo-Gothic design is distinguished by pointed windows, restrained masonry decoration, and a tall square bell tower that remains a landmark above the town’s low-rise streets. The building now serves as the Orthodox Cathedral of the Transfiguration, reflecting the region’s shift from German Protestant to Russian Orthodox culture after the Second World War. Its strongest photographic features are the contrast between dark brick and pale trim, the tower’s vertical scale, and the layered historical character of its adapted interior.
