
Kirche Maria Laach is a beautiful medieval Benedictine monastery located in Glees, Germany. It is one of the most iconic examples of Romanesque architecture in the country with its distinctive triple-spired steeple set against the backdrop of rolling hills. The abbey was founded in the 11th century and is home to a religious community still to this day. It features incredible stonework with intricate detailing on the many gateways, doors, pillar capitals and arcades. Inside, the church is simply stunning with soaring columns, frescoed ceilings and lovely stained glass windows. There are also several chapels, cloisters, and a multi-story cloister-galleries. There is also a museum on site with a collection of relics, manuscripts and books. Kirche Maria Laach is an incredible sight and should not be missed by anyone visiting the Glees area.
