The King Petar Krešimir IV Bastion is located in Zadar, Croatia. This imposing 16th-century Venetian bastion offers visitors a stunning view of the city. It was built by the Venetians to protect Zadar from the mainland. The impressive square tower was constructed over five years and was the biggest bastion ever built and became the best preserved fortification in the whole Adriatic region. The Bastion is now a cultural heritage building and visitors can explore the bastion’s magnificent gates, walls and battlements built from solid limestone. This is a great spot for visitors to get a bird’s-eye view of the entire city as the walls extend all the way to the shore. The Bastion also offers visitors breathtaking sunsets, and a great opportunity to explore one of Croatia’s early military fortifications.
