Khor Virap is a historic monastery located near the village of Lusarat in Armenia, offering one of the most iconic views of Mount Ararat. This site is of significant religious and cultural importance as it is believed to be the location where Gregory the Illuminator, Armenia's patron saint, was imprisoned for 13 years before curing King Tiridates III of an illness. This event led to Armenia adopting Christianity as the state religion in 301 AD, the first nation to do so.

The monastery itself is perched on a hill, providing stunning panoramas of the surrounding landscape. Architecturally, Khor Virap is a blend of medieval Armenian styles, with a simple yet striking design. Visitors can explore the church and descend into the dungeon where Saint Gregory was held, adding a tangible connection to Armenia's rich Christian heritage. The site is accessible year-round and is a popular pilgrimage destination, attracting both religious devotees and history enthusiasts.
