Khaungtaing, also written Khaung Daing, is a village on the northwestern side of Inle Lake in Myanmar’s Shan State, within easy reach of Nyaungshwe. It is known for household production of Shan foods, especially tofu and soybean-based snacks, which are prepared, dried, and sold around the village. These working courtyards offer distinctive visual details: rows of pale tofu, woven trays, weathered timber houses, and the rhythms of small-scale food making. The surrounding scene shifts toward fields, low hills, and lakeside settlements, giving Khaungtaing a quieter, land-based contrast to Inle Lake’s stilt villages and boat traffic.
