Kau Ban Mosque is an elegant Mughal architectural marvel located in Agra, India. Built as a royal darbar hall by Emperor Akbar in 1571, the building has a unique fan-shaped plan with grand arches and marble and sandstone inlay work on the facade. Inside, the building is split into two large chambers with exquisite lattice work, shell motifs and inscriptions of Persian calligraphy adorning the walls. While not used as a place of worship, it serves as a great venue to explore Mughal architecture. It is a must see for tourists and photographers alike.
