Kathedrale St. Gallen is the main church of the Catholic Diocese of St. Gallen and a major tourist attraction. The church, built in a Baroque style, is located in the heart of the city and is easily accessible by foot. It is one of the most impressive structures in St. Gallen and is a symbol of the city, visible from many places. Inside the church, you can witness its spectacular, large murals and ornate works by all four Baroque artists associated with it. The high altar, displaying three golden figures of Jesus, is particularly noteworthy. The altar windows are also worth mentioning for their incredible craftsmanship. Make sure to take a moment to admire the intricately carved marble columns, frescoes, tapestries and overall grace of this old masterpiece. There is also a crypt below the church where the remains of Bl. Gallus, the founder of the city, are kept. Kathedrale St. Gallen is considered a must-visit during a trip to St. Gallen, and its grand beauty will be sure to leave you amazed.
