📍 United States
Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument, in the pueblo of Cochiti, New Mexico, is a celebration of ancient geological history. The striking features here are cone-shaped tents composed of pink, white, and tan layers of pumice and ash. These 15 million year old volcanic remains have been carved into a strange, yet beautiful forest of hoodoos. You can take easy trails to explore the area up close, or take the Cave Loop Trail to enter capped-rock caves. Enjoy the incredible sights of cliffs of banded pumice, scores of colorful wildflowers in springtime, and the desert wildlife- listen for the songs of hawks, owls and coyotes.
