Karlskirche, or Charles Church, located in the heart of Vienna, Austria, is one of the most iconic and majestic buildings of the city. Built in 1715-1737 and dedicated to Emperor Charles VI, it is one of the most representative structures in the grandeur of the Baroque architecture of Vienna.

The impressive façade of Karlskirche is divided in two symmetrical parts and is decorated with giant statues of Saints Charles and Joseph, angels, and the imperial family. Inside, eight massive columns divide the interior into a nave and two side aisles; you can marvel at the impressive dome, frescoes, paintings and sculptures. Right outside is the Teich Vor Der Karlskirche (Lake in front of the Charles Church), an artificial lake constructed by Andreas Altomonte to decorate Vienna. The lake has a multitude of swan, geese and ducks in its waters, which makes it an idyllic spot for visitors to take a relaxing stroll or even to take a boat ride.
