Kamienica Łuk Cezara
📍 Poland
Kamienica Łuk Cezara is a townhouse in Toruń’s Old Town, recognizable for the arched passage through its ground floor. The opening was created to accommodate tram traffic, adapting the historic street layout to the needs of modern transport. Its name refers to Karl Caesar, the municipal architect responsible for the alteration, rather than to a Roman emperor. The building’s distinctive visual contrast lies between the regular rows of windows above and the broad opening below: a domestic façade becomes a gateway, with the arch framing the old-town street beyond.
