Kalyazinskaya Kolokol'nya, also known as the Kalyazin Bell Tower, emerges strikingly from the waters of the Volga River, marking the site of a submerged part of the historic town. Built in the early 19th century as part of the grand Makaryev Monastery complex, it once stood proudly on land, but after the construction of the Uglich Reservoir in the 1940s, the surrounding area was flooded, leaving this six-tier bell tower partially submerged. Measuring around 74.5 meters high, it creates an eerie yet captivating scene, especially when viewed from a boat or from the nearby promenade. The surrounding platforms are ideal for scenic photos, and local tours often include a boat trip closer to the tower for an unforgettable firsthand encounter.
