📍 United States
Near Palenville, New York, Kaaterskill Falls is a two-tier waterfall on Spruce Creek in the Catskill Mountains’ Kaaterskill Clove. Its roughly 260-foot descent and forested rock walls drew 19th-century visitors and Hudson River School painters, making the falls part of the region’s artistic identity. The upper plunge passes a recessed cliff before the water drops again below, creating a layered scene framed by hardwood foliage that turns vivid in autumn.
