Jumièges Abbey, in the small village of the same name in Seine-Maritime, is one of the most impressive and iconic examples of Romanesque architecture in Normandy. Founded in the 644AD, the abbey became an important site of religious power within the region, and was designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1991. Since the abbey’s 19th century restoration, visitors have been able to explore and appreciate its grand displays of spectacular architecture, including the vaulted nave, a terrace with a stunning view of the valley and fields, a breathtaking 12th-century chapter house, a serene cloister, Norman-style towers, and a Romanesque-style tympanum. Visitors to Jumièges Abbey are invited to marvel at its beauty, surrounded by the rich history of this former Benedictine monastery.
